Investments by Humanism

Not all companies survive economic downturns, but all founders do. Investing in people has proven a much safer bet, regardless of the macroeconomic climate. The logic, in part, is underlined by a statistic from the startup accelerator Y-Combinator’s 2010-2011 class: Only 5% of companies became unicorns, but 11% of the founders created unicorns.
So why not remove the middleman and simply invest in founders?

Below, you will find information about some of the incredible founders whose future financial output we have had the privilege to invest in.
Marina Mogilko

Marina Mogilko is an entrepreneur and content creator who has become a global influencer with over 17 million followers across YouTube (linguamarina 8.57M subscribers, Silicon Valley Girl 1.25M subscribers), TikTok (3.2M subscribers), and Instagram (1.1M subscribers). She founded Linguamarina, Inc. in May 2020, based in Los Altos Hills, California. Through Linguamarina, Inc., Marina manages her personal brand through this venture and creates educational content that inspires millions about language learning, entrepreneurship, and life in Silicon Valley. We are proud to be investors alongside Slow Ventures and Sriram Krishnan.

Marina is renowned for her engaging content on language acquisition and entrepreneurship. She shares valuable insights on learning English and other languages, applying to universities abroad, and building successful businesses. Marina co-founded LinguaTrip in April 2015. Anton Gladkoborodov

Anton Gladkoborodov is a YC alumni and a seasoned entrepreneur based in Brooklyn, New York, with over two decades of experience in the technology and media industries. He founded Corca, a groundbreaking project initiated to revolutionize how mathematicians interact with mathematical content. Imagine math as a universal language that 7 billion people have studied in school, yet there’s still no ‘text editor’ for it. You can’t just open a computer, start typing equations, and solve them. Corca aims to change this by developing an advanced math editor (a “mathematical VS Code + Notion” or “Figma for mathematics”) to facilitate better collaboration and exploration in the mathematical community.

Before Corca, Anton founded Columns, where he continues leading innovative projects. In March 2020, he established Fridge No More, a startup that offered rapid grocery deliveries in New York City and Boston. The company aimed to transform the grocery shopping experience by providing ultra-fast delivery services. Fridge No More grew rapidly, employing over 600 people and gaining significant traction in the market.

Anton was the driving force behind Coub, a video streaming platform he co-founded in 2012. The platform became renowned for its unique approach to short-form content, enabling creative expression and engaging a large user base. By November 2018, Coub had reached over 1 billion monthly views, showcasing its significant global impact.

Throughout his career, Anton Gladkoborodov has consistently demonstrated a passion for innovation and a commitment to enhancing user experiences across various industries. His work reflects a dedication to creating platforms that foster collaboration, creativity, and technological advancement.
